About the role
Step into a dynamic day shift role where every shift makes a visible difference to the city you help keep clean and vibrant. Sydney is a vibrant, dynamic and accessible city with a diverse population, a rich history, world famous tourist attractions and an exciting calendar of events.
Here at the city of Sydney, no two days are the same. As a day shift Cleansing Crew Operator, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills with full training across a wide range of cleansing specialised tasks and equipment, cleaning our footpaths, roadways, plazas, public precincts and servicing our street litter bins using a variety of methods including manual cleaning, pressure cleaning, refuse removal trucks and both large and small mechanical sweeping vehicles ensuring our LGA and public spaces are looking their best each day.

We are seeking self-motivated, dedicated people who take pride in their work and able to complete physically demanding tasks.
To work in the team, you must:
- Be physically fit and able.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct manual street cleaning tasks, bulk waste removal such as illegal dumping and servicing of street litter bins.
- Drive and operate a variety of plant equipment including street sweepers and waste compactors.
- Hold current Medium Rigid or Heavy Vehicle (MR/HR) drivers licence.
- Be available to work weekday shifts, some weekends, and public holidays.
- Have a proven clean driving record.
- Adapt to changing priorities and undertake other tasks as directed.
- Experience in waste removal preferred.
- The successful candidate should have previous experience in the safe operation and maintenance of plant and Street Sweepers.

This role has the option of a rostered day off every 2 weeks, known as a 9-day fortnight.
