Description

The ACT Education Directorate is seeking an experienced Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander educator to join a small yet dynamic team as the Assistant Director Cultural Integrity Professional Practice.  A major focus of the role is to lead and manage the design and delivery of professional learning programs and the  development of teaching and learning resources to strengthen teacher capability to embed the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures Cross-curriculum Priority of the Australian Curriculum across all subject areas and year levels.

Eligibility/Other requirements: 

    • A minimum of 4 years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a  recognised school teaching qualification.
    • Current professional teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (or eligibility  to obtain).
    • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP). Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra

Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act  1994 and is only open to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Aboriginal and/or Torres  Strait Islander lived experience, and cultural capability is considered essential and therefore confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage may be requested.
