Description

As part of our work supporting public interest journalism, MEAA hosts awards for excellence in journalism in Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. These awards are recognised as the pinnacle of journalism in each state or territory.

MEAA is looking to appoint a Project Coordinator to support the planning, coordination and delivery of the State Media Awards program, working closely with the Events and Awards Manager.

 

Key duties include:

  • Develop and revise timelines and procedures, in collaboration with Events and Awards Manager and state committees.
  • Coordinate entry processes, including managing the online entry platform, reviewing submissions for eligibility and compliance, and monitoring entry verifications and payments.
  • Coordinate judging processes, including the recruitment of judges, preparation and distribution of judging materials, facilitation of judging panels, and ongoing communication.
  • Provide stakeholder support by responding to queries from award entrants, judges and other partners, escalating matters to senior leadership as needed.
  • Maintain program documentation such as sponsorship agreements, supplier contracts, invoicing, acquittal reports, budget tracking and other reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous program improvement by capturing feedback and participation data, identifying and logging issues, and supporting planning for future award cycles.
  • Support MEAA’s professional development arm, the Equity Foundation, with administration of additional awards, projects and programs.

 

Preferred skills, attributes and experience:

  • Proven experience in a project coordination or project support role
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain relationships with award stakeholders
  • Ability to complete workflows to deadline and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills and approachable personality – providing assistance to entrants and judges where needed
  • Highly organised and efficient, with strong attention to detail
  • A questioning and problem-solving mindset

 

Details

Remuneration will be $76,987.57 to $87,704.24 depending on skills and experience. Benefits include 12.5% employer contribution to superannuation, 5 weeks annual leave each year, 1 RDO every 4 weeks, plus an additional 3 days leave between Christmas and New Year. Salary sacrificing is available. This is a full-time permanent position.
