Expression of Interest for Board Directorships from Aboriginal candidates

Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) is an Aboriginal[1] community organisation responsible for managing more than 1,900 rental properties for Aboriginal people living in Victoria.

Our vision is to ensure that Aboriginal Victorians secure appropriate, affordable housing as a pathway to better lives and stronger communities.

AHV is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and regulated by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission and the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. AHV is a registered housing association under the Housing Act 1983 (Vic) and was the first Aboriginal housing agency to be registered as a housing provider and housing association in Victoria. AHV is the largest Aboriginal social housing agency in Australia.

AHV is also the lead agency for Victoria’s Aboriginal housing and homelessness policy, Mana-na worn-tyeen maar-takoort takoort (Every Aboriginal Person Has a Home).  AHV works in partnership with Government to secure the resources and reforms to implement the policy, while we support sector development to empower Victoria’s Aboriginal community to determine its chosen housing future.

AHV's housing services are targeted to those most in need of support. Through the provision of secure housing by an Aboriginal rental provider, AHV helps strengthen and maintain Aboriginal communities and cultural ties.

AHV maintains a mix   of   Directors   on   the   Board   from   different   backgrounds, with complementary skills and experience in the areas of business, governance, asset management, law, finance and accounting, communications, social housing, housing development and construction, and Aboriginal community-controlled sectors.

AHV is undertaking an open expression of interest (EOI) process, to attract suitably qualified candidates for future directorships on the AHV Board.

For the 2026 EOI round, AHV is seeking EOIs from Aboriginal candidates only, preferably with experience in commercial law, and/or senior roles within the planning/housing construction sector.

We are looking to add to our established register of candidates who have been assessed as demonstrating the potential skills and attributes required, for nomination to Director vacancies as they become available.

An EOI information pack is available that provides details on the EOI process, and the skills and attributes for selection of candidates. An EOI form is also included.

To be considered for the directorships, interested potential candidates must complete and return the EOI form with required supporting documentation by COB Friday 31 July 2026. Submission of resumes alone will not be accepted.
